Which Cities Allow Short-Term Rentals?

We are often asked this question regarding regulation in different cities across the Ontario. While many cities have developed a policy or By-law for STR, this is not the case for many areas across the province.

Some aspects of regulation are positive while others may be negative. What do we mean when we say this?

Regulation provides a clear picture of what to expect from a city when listing you property on AirBNB or any other platform. There are less unanswered questions and grey areas to address. In some cities STR By-laws may be favourable to individuals that are looking to implement this strategy on their properties, while others may be very strict.

Below we provide a list of cities that are currently regulated and cities that are not in our vicinity.

Please Keep in mind while we try to stay on top of things ,cities are constantly updated their bylaws and making policy changes. Please do your due diligence on each city by searching on google “City Name Short term rental bylaw”

Also understand that some cities are actively looking to implement bylaws but have not finished the process. If you are unsure you should contact the city zoning and economic development departments to see if there are changes on the way.
